Whether you’ve recently bought a house or are in the process of renovating, it’s likely that you’ll have scrap materials lying around somewhere – wood, cardboard, tiles, flooring samples… all of those things can make for great DIY supplies when you’re feeling a little creative. This was the case for me recently. I had a few flooring samples I didn’t know what to utilise for, but at the same time I just knew I didn’t want to get rid of them. Continue reading
My little garden set has finally arrived and I couldn’t be happier with it. This 2-chair set from Ebay is part of the growing trend of bistro style rattan furniture that I keep seeing everywhere. The chairs are a little straighter than the ones I’m seeing everywhere with a more rounded shape. But this is exactly what I was after, and I think it suits our tiny little garden perfectly and complements our little decking area quite well.
Want to know how I created this small decking area in my backyard? Read on… This is probably the best thing I’ve ever bought on Amazon. I’m totally in love. I didn’t think I could create a small decking area in our backyard so easily.
Wow, it’s been a while! I’m going to skip the part where I list all the excuses as to why I haven’t posted in so long – I think we can all agree the last few months have been quite a whirlwind! But I’m back, with a few interior design updates made to my home. You will recognise some of the furniture, the art… Continue reading
The last few months have been a total whirlwind filled with surprises, blessings but also new challenges. Not too long ago, we moved house again (!) and settled into a lovely new built property not too far from where we used to live. Things happened quite fast but if you know me well, you’ll know I’m always up for this type of challenge. We prayed for things to go smoothly, and I’m grateful they did. Not just the transition into the new house, but also the decorating process. Continue reading
This is a recipe I concocted with while experimenting with curries and stews. I wanted a stew that didn’t take too long to cook, but that still had all the flavours of a hearty and comforting curry with a Caribbean (see ‘Colombo de poulet’ – French Antilles) and Asian fusion (see traditional Chicken curry). If that’s the kind of flavours you’re after, try this recipe and let me know what you think. Continue reading
Sometimes it just hits me that I may actually come across as that stagnant, unambitious and complacent friend our parents used to warn us about. Or the only person in the room who’d gladly turn down a promotion to prioritize my family and work/life balance. I may even be (in fact I know I am) that one friend who’ll encourage you to first consider your own happiness and well-being before taking any opportunity to move up the career ladder, even if your salary was tripled.
This amazing jumpsuit from H&M. I would actually find a way to style it in every season.
“There’s no “opt out” button. We’re responsible for three small human beings til they reach the age where they can start making life decisions for themselves, pay their own bills, have kids of their own… And even beyond that, I’ll still feel a sense of responsibility towards them. We can’t just switch this parenting thing off whenever we feel like it; it doesn’t just go away whenever you need a break; we have to deal with it, even on our worst days… and the journey has only just begun. Can you believe it?”
These are the types of words that come out of my mouth during conversations with my husband whenever the reality of our lives just hits me.
You read that right. My home office makeover cost me a grand total of… £0.00. How? By utilizing what I already had at home. I recycled and re-purposed objects to make this little co-working space in my home look brand new. And I really think anyone can do this, all you need is a little bit of creativity.
Before I go any further, let me just say I’m actually really embarrassed to show you the “before” photo.
