I made pie for the very first time the other day! It was also the first time I actually had chicken and mushroom pie. Let’s just ignore how amateur-ish the crust looks, I made the puff pastry from scratch and I guess I still have to work on the presentation! But the pie tasted so good I thought it would be selfish not to share the recipe.
Would you believe the only reason why I made lamb today is because my colleague gave out fresh rosemary from her garden? Lamb and mash just had to happen!
I use mango chutney a lot in my cooking. But mango chutney on salmon is my absolute favourite combination. The flavours of the salmon and caramelized spring onion in the chutney are just too awesome not to share. So if you’re looking for a delicious meal idea with very few ingredients, this one is definitely one to try out!
This is a recipe I concocted with while experimenting with curries and stews. I wanted a stew that didn’t take too long to cook, but that still had all the flavours of a hearty and comforting curry with a Caribbean (see ‘Colombo de poulet’ – French Antilles) and Asian fusion (see traditional Chicken curry). If that’s the kind of flavours you’re after, try this recipe and let me know what you think. Continue reading

This recipe is one of my absolute favourite fish dishes, great as a summer meal but also a very healthy option as it’s grilled in the oven (as opposed to fried). Marinated in a delicious mix of bell peppers, Lazy Garlic and Lazy Ginger and spices, the fish really absorbs all the flavours and tastes amazing with a side of rice, plantain, or sweet potatoes. How to make the best chicken ever? The answer isn’t in the type of chicken you buy, the answer isn’t in the way you cook it, whether it’s grilled, fried, roasted… none of that matters. The answer isn’t even in the seasoning.
How to make the best chicken ever?
By letting it marinate for hours before you cook it; overnight if possible.
A few weeks ago we celebrated my mother’s birthday at the Thai restaurant Kinkao, situated on the Isle of Dogs. The restaurant used to be called Elephant Royale and my family and I had visited on numerous occasions. They recently went through a rebrand and the restaurant is now under new management. The menu is completely different to what it used to be, but we weren’t disappointed with the options. Continue reading
I made these chicken thighs last week, marinated in mango chutney and garlic the night before. They were such a hit with my little family, and after I posted the photo on Instagram I was asked to post the recipe on the blog. So here it is – Mango chutney chicken thighs, you can accompany this with a side of basmati rice like we did, and a salsa made with red, yellow and green peppers sauteed in mango chutney.
It’s been a great start to summer 2017, we’ve just enjoyed a whole week of constant sunshine and high temperatures. It was the perfect occasion to go on a little cake date with a good friend of mine. I first came across Peggy Porschen Cakes on Instagram, through different influencers whose photos of pink roses and lush cakes didn’t leave me indifferent. A must-see and must-go spot for bloggers and photography lovers, the place has so much charm everyone stops to take pictures. Continue reading
A few days ago, I arranged to meet up with Debra for a quick bite. I had been looking forward to this for a long time. Yes to new friendships, yes to fellow bloggers/vloggers who understand your need to film or photograph every single part of your dining experience. And quite frankly, yes to simply beautiful, kind and funny souls like Debra. I’m always grateful for the people God places on my path.
But back to this restaurant review… Continue reading
