Cake date at Peggy Porschen, London ~ Review

It’s been a great start to summer 2017, we’ve just enjoyed a whole week of constant sunshine and high temperatures. It was the perfect occasion to go on a little cake date with a good friend of mine. I first came across Peggy Porschen Cakes on Instagram, through different influencers whose photos of pink roses and lush cakes didn’t leave me indifferent. A must-see and must-go spot for bloggers and photography lovers, the place has so much charm everyone stops to take pictures.

Located at just a 7 minute walk from Victoria station, Peggy Porschen is quite easy to find with Google Maps. You will be taken aback and mesmerised by the beautiful pink and flowery design of the bakery – it’s beautifully conceptualised and executed. It seems to be quite an attraction here: there’s a constant wave of tourists, passers by and locals posing in front of the flower mural and the pink vintage bike by the front door. And you guessed it, my friend and I had to do the same!

The service was very decent. A waiter stood near my table to make sure no one ‘stole’ it while I ordered my cake inside the shop and I was served with a smile.

And of course the most important thing… the cakes. Delicious, well presented and reasonably priced. I arrived a little bit before my friend so treated myself to a red velvet cupcake while I waited, which was just under £5 if I remember well. Probably one of the best red velvet cupcakes I’ve had. I then had a slice of the vanilla cloud layered cake which was just as lovely. I liked the fact that it wasn’t too sweet, and the taste of the vanilla wasn’t too overwhelming. It was just perfect. It was a bit too hot for us to try the teas but there’s a decent selection and you’ll love the traditional pink tea pots, in line with the rose-y theme of the place.

I would totally recommend this place for a relaxed afternoon tea with a couple friend. The place is really tiny so if you’re planning to go with a larger group, I’d recommend arriving quite early in the afternoon when it’s not too busy and you can get several tables outside. Otherwise, be prepared to queue – this place is very popular and they don’t take bookings.
