This week I gave birth to a little girl, and today I’d like to share with you photos of her nursery, which I started working when I was about 20 weeks pregnant. We had a spare room in the house that was always intended to be for a new addition to the family, so working on this little project as soon as we found out we were having a girl was very exciting. I decided what type of furniture and colour scheme I wanted, browsed Pinterest for design ideas and got on with it.
Slowly, the look came together. I kept adding bits and pieces, details and accessories as I went along. I shopped around, a LOT. And you’d be surprised how many amazing pieces you can find on Ebay… it’s a goldmine.
I’m very pleased with the final result, and I’m glad I’ve been able to achieve this on a tight budget: The whole look cost less than £500! it’s simple, but it’s functional. And yes, I did the whole pink thing! At the risk of sounding as if I’m reinforcing gender stereotypes, having been limited to boys colours, clothes and toys for the last 10 years, I won’t lie to you, I was looking forward to injecting some girly-ness into this house.
I will probably end up adding a few more things over the next few weeks or months and I’m sure that as our daughter grows up, she’ll accumulate more toys, books and other things. Of course at the moment she sleeps in a moses basket right next to me in our bedroom, and will do for the next few months.

So beautiful, congratulations again on the birth of your daughter: may she grow to be strong and beautiful just like her mama 😀 #Mapamboliebele
